I have an 89 SHO, and i was all ready to do the fog light mod with the directions from SHOtimes.com, but when i got it apart, all of the colors were different and the wires are not in a straight line like it says. I tried many different combinations, but none seemed to work. Grrrr.
So if anyone has done the fog light mod in an 89, i would greatly appreciate some help!
THANKS!

I have done the fog-light mod.

Assuming you have any automotive skills, it is an easy mod.

required tools; test light

The instructions on SHOtimes are basically correct, but poorly written

It would be better for you to start from scratch as the color keyed wiring is not always gaurenteed.

1, remove the 4 torx head bolts holding the lower portion of the dash cover. The fog-light/rear de-fog panel will now merely pop out.

2, un-plug the foglight switch.

3, Using your test light, probe the plug end. Turning on the parklights will activate one of the plugs. This is the illumination for the switch.

4, one of the plugs will light up as you turn the head-lights on. this is the wire you need to cut.
safely tape off the portion going into the dash. Make sure you leave enough wire to crimp a butt connector to it.

5, find a wire that is live when the ignition is turned on. You may use any live accssesory wire of your choosing. The Shotimes article recommends to use the park light wire but then your fog-lights will only be able to turn on if your park lights are on...Get it?\

Essentially, you need a live circut to connect now cut wire on the harness. This will allow the fog-lights to come on. I don't recommend you use a wire that is constantly powered as you may forget your fog-lights are on and drain the battery.

6, using a similar gauge of wire, attach it to the now cut wire on the harness side. You will probably wnat a lenght of wire long enough to reach the fuse panel (approximately 14"). Splice the new wire to a wire that comes on when the car is on.

Hopefully this can be of some use to you.

89 is the only year that the fog lights were set up differently, from what i have been told. you can't do the mod like it says on the forum.
