Which flowmasters do I want for a 97?

I heard one that sounded oh so sweet.

What size and offset will I need?

If I remove the 3rd cat will it throw a cel? Illinois you fail emmisions with a cel on obd2 cars.

Correction: in parts of IL you fail emissions with a CEL. Most of the state doesn't have emissions testing. Such as in Kankakee, where I live.

No cel will rusult from removing the 3rd cat. The post HO2S is before the 3rd cat and will not detect it's absence. Yes, FLowmasters DO sound sweet on the 3gen.

You want the Flowmaster 40 NON-DELTA series. Just the plain, good 'ol flowmaster 40's.
