This afternoon I was able to flow test the sax and a flushcut back to back. The Sax flowed at 485cfm at 13"h2o, The flush cut flowed a grand total of 460cfm. This is back to back runs 1min apart. This was on a superflow 600 bench.

I guess FoMoGo knew what they were doing when they made the silly thing.

Interesting. I fugured most of it's design was for noise supression. Tho, I have seen a glasspack style Dynomax muffler out flow an equal length and ID straight pipe. -Anyone know the CFM flow of the 3.4?

The 3.4L flows just over 300CFM at OE redline.

I'd like to know the flow figures for the stock airbox with a paper filter vs. a K&N.

What about the "Porter" set up with the 3inch PVc in the fender?

Wonder if the flared end of the "sax" has anything to do with this? I remember things called "velocity stacks" that guys would put on the top of a carb in order to increase air intake.

with or without trap

Was the saxocone measurement with or without the trap/insert still in place?

Thanks! In that case it looks like there wasn't much point in me pulling out the insert on mine  I assume the sax w/o insert would fall in the narrow range measured between sax w/ and cut off.

Oh well, it sounds badder ;)

Mr. SHO said:
What insert? Mine never had any inserts.

Inside the cylindrical center part of the "sax" assembly there is another perforated cylinder with holes through the sides. That is what forms the sound baffle. If you separate the two haves of the sax you can pull the inner cylinder out.

It's been a while since I removed the sax, but as far as I could tell at the time, it was one piece. I'll have to dig around the garage and find it and try to see what you mean. I do remember trying to pull it apart though...
