Flickering Clock

Hi all! Got a problem that I just cannot find the answer to. I know I'm not the first one to have this problem but I've never seen the solution on the forums I've checked. I'll try to put this as simply as I can. When I turn my headlights on my clock flickers. In addition to that, my aftermarket stereo reverts back to the demo color (jvc with color-changing feature). Once I turn the headlights back off, the clock quits flickering and stereo color returns to normal. I've replaced the dimmer switch with one from the junkyard and still no dice. I'm beginning to wonder if anyone has ever found the solution to this? Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I'd think the alternator is a culprit, possibly bad battery.

I suppose the alternator could be a possibility. But the other interior lights don't flicker (instrument cluster, EATC).
