My 97 sho has a problem. The idle hunts up and down. I pretty sure that the computer is trying to correct the mixture causing the surge. It is slight not like the factory recognized 1500 + rpm idle issue.
My flexpipe is trashed and the exhaust is actually leaking within it. It needs to be replaced and I'm hoping this is also the cause of my idle problem.
Is there a source for this pipe other than Ford?
or do I get a universal type and have some flanges welded onto it?
any advice would be appreciated.
thanks

Id start by cleaning the MAF wire to fix the loopy idle. It's easy to do and if it doesnt fix the problem, thats one less thing to suspect. As for the flex pipe, any muffler shop or auto parts store should have one or can get one. And while you're cuting pipe under there might as well remove the third cat.

thanks Dave,
the MAf has been cleaned...probably everything within reason has been done to resolve the idle thingy...if it isn't the pipe then further searching will be needed.
I live in a rural area and have found that it is much, much better to supply a part (even if it needs modified) then to ask them to source it.
I guess I really need a little guidance, like maybe a part number or link where I can actually order the flex and them present it to them.
thanks

I use the universal type with some flanges and an extension welded to it. This replaces the third cat.

I got mine from eBay but they are at about any parts store. I used the flanges off the old third cat to weld onto it.

2.50" but be aware that the rest of the system is 2.25" until after the rear Y and where it enters the mufflers which narrows down to ~1.75"
