First time at the track

So the local track opened up for test and tune today. I was down talking to a couple of my friends about their cars when a couple of had to be early 20's kids show up. They started talking all kinds of noise about. "Who ordered the boat anchor and 4 door cars can't be fast." I asked what they were driving. Turns out it's a 98 Mustang GT. Bone stock. I told them I bet a 100 my boat anchor blows the doors off your car. Surprise surprise I'm a hundred dollars richer. I look at the one guy and tell him. Your lucky I have a gf yours hasn't stopped looking since we finished. He was all kinds of ******. Great day 4 me

A 98 Mustang is still based on an updated version of the FOX body which was designed in the 70s.

Plus the more powerful engine and AWD - I would be mad at you if you didn't beat him

I just which the Taurus would be lighter, you feel the weight in every corner

They were morons if they thought a stock '98 Mustang GT would beat a Gen 4 SHO. Penzoil, I don't know if your SHO is tuned or not but a stock SHO would beat a '98 Mustang GT. I am glad you put them in their place but next time you should take on a more formidable opponent.

Not even just any 2V 4.6, a non-PI 2V 4.6. I would race that thing in my Jeep.

Excellent! As a kid I thought mustangs were cool until I grew up and realized EVERYONE had them. Oh, and a 4 door boat anchor out runs them.

I'm a Mustang fan. While the SHO is no slouch it's still not in the same speed class as a modern Mustang. In this case he raced an 18 year old car that's stock. The fact is that in 18 years even the SHO stock will likely be considered slow. Not only was the Mustang old, it was the engine design that's slower than the previous generation. If you start comparing the SHO to a newer 5.0 Mustang the boat anchor doesn't outrun them stock for stock. Even with a tune on the SHO, it's a drivers race.

I don't even consider the SHO and Mustang the same class of car and hardly comparable.
