Did it really cost $230 to replace worn out parts in the trans? Shipping through DHL was about $50 with $1200 in insurance. I also don't think I should have had to pay for shipping for both of the transmissions. I had no idea how much the refund was for, because you never told me.
If your trans had been good and you were to have shipped me your trans to rebuild and install a quaife in it would you actually expect me to pay shipping to get it back to you? That's not how things work. People send me their transmissions from all over the country, not once have I ever paid shipping either way. Why didn't you inquire about this from the beginning?
In regards to parts costs....the following is from our PM's.
This first PM dated 1/21/06 is where we were discussing my labor rate, possible extra cost for parts and shipping. You may recall that you sent 2 checks, one was for my labor rate, the other one was a "core" charge but was also dog-eared for extra parts expense.

Should Ijust take my trans to a UPS store? I've never shipped something that big before. 2 checks is fine with me. Then if you need to replace worn out parts, you can cash the $300 and use what you need.
And PM dated 3/2/06 where I told you exactly what the costs of the extra parts were.

Costs on the above:
Outputshaft rear - $77.16
Countershaft bearings (for 2) - $31.05
5th synchro - $72.92
5th blocking ring - $30
I've gotten shipping quotes from both UPS and DHL. UPS quotes $90.83 with a weight of 110# and a value of $1500, delivery day of Tuesday. DHL quoted $67.24 with the same weight and value and Monday as the delivery day. So, the choice is yours.
And your response back to me......

Ok, I will definately go with DHL because it is MUCH cheaper. How many quaifes have you installed? That didn't seem to take very long.
How do I arrange the shipping for the return of my core trans? I usually drop stuff off at the Post Office, but I'm sure a transmission is too big.

I have not recieved a money order, so it's impossible that it's been cashed.
All I know is what they told me. It's not impossible, it happens all the time. Don't believe me? Call any company who sells money orders and ask them just how often it happens.

I pm'd you Thursday and today giving you my Paypal address with no response, but get the money order thing sorted out first. You could have responded to either of those letting me know what was up.
I hadn't read any of my *** until tonight. I just got done reading the first PM with the Paypal info in it. I'm still playing catch up from taking a few days off from the forum. You told me before when I offered to Paypal it to you before that you didn't have a Payal account. It looks like this account has been open for several years, I wish you would have provided this info to me before.

It's too bad you don't have paypal, I could send you instant funds in the event it didn't arrive for whatever reason.
In any case, keep me posted. Glad you like the quaife, it's worth it's weight in gold.
Yeah, I haven't seen the money order, but whenever you get the chance, not a big deal. I wish I had Paypal but since I'm under 18-no credit card

Your service was great and I've had no problems with the trans, I just find it hard to believe that out of $300 there is only $20 left.
I told you up front what my labor rate was, I also told you up front that extra costs for parts could be involved. I informed you of and you cleared shipping costs. I gave you options on which service you wanted me to use. I sent you a free VSS as well, granted it was used, but free none-the-less. I did this because you told me you couldn't afford one so I threw it in because I appreciated your business.

I also realize that it took me a while to send you my trans and that was obviously my fault. I'm just frusterated because I spent close to $2K on a quaife'd trans that I'm still trying to get money back on. Please clear these things up for me.
Mike
Again, I wasn't complaining about the core not being returned in a more timely fashion, I was glad to have finally received it.
I told you I would get the core money back to you and I did just so. You really should feel pretty good about what you spent. I spent close to $2400 on the trans from my 91 when I installed the quaife in it and I didn't even have to pay for labor because I did it myself. For a quaife install that you don't install yourself the price you paid was well below the norm IMO, that's just reality kiddo.
In any case, the balance of the core charge has been refunded as of 2:59 a.m. 6/4/06 using the paypal info you provided.
