After close to four years, and careful consideration, I have finally made my first modification to my 2014 SHO. I cut the damn rear mufflers off. I’m extremely pleased with the results, my wife, not so much,

While on the subject of first mods, and seeing 2 of the most active performance SHOs have commented on this... Is this a good price? I feel like this is a good price. Even after adding an MPVI2 from HPTuners I'd be at 530 for the hardware and then I'd just have to get a tune file. Found these items on PartsGeek, ignore that 2 of them say F150.

I would make sure that you have a reliable tuner to make revisions if you go down the HPtuners road. Most don't. If you aren't wanting to tune it yourself, I would invest in a SCT device and have Matt at Gearhead drop you a Auto Octane Tune. It is really flexible with fuel quality and it flat out works.

If I do go with the SCT route I would probably just buy the Gearhead kit for 600 which i believe includes the tune but from what I found it sounded like HPTuners is the way to go now, FYI i was planning on going to Gearhead for the tune either way, I was just trying to save a lil cash.

Matt tunes with SCT or hptuners. Also try brewcity boost or unleashed which both also do hptuners or SCT.

SCT is falling fast, they may come back with a vengeance but they even told me straight up they don't recommend themselves for anything 18+ lol now admittedly that's only 2.5 years back.....but what do they have planned? Hptuners has updates daily and you can even recommend or add your own. If they reduced the SCT x4 to 100$ it would be fair value. The livewire should be 299$ but as long as they sell, why not jack it up...lol

In reality unless you have a pre 2013 vehicle, or plan to use a specific tuner who doesn't admit he uses hptuners.....SCT doesn't make sense.

If the Livewire were were 299 i would absolutely go that route with the AO tune but as it sits i can get a HPTuner MPVI2 for 400 dollars less and have more capability with track timing.

The auto-octane tune is great but....you will crave e30. Ethanol will take over your life. Next thing you know, you are using. None of your friends understand why you say your vehicle is corn fed....or why you sound Rick Flair at every stop light. I understand. Ethanol, it makes you Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Yeah if you use a cheap tablet or an old phone you can set it up to record your laps/times/etc. I have a pixel 3 xl(no sim) I use for track addict and a Microsoft surface I use for datalogging and programming.

Unfortunately it does look like i am heading the direction of E30 since there is only 1.... ONE!!! gas station in Lincoln, NE that offers 93 octane and technically I live 20 miles south of Lincoln in a town of 175 ppl. So I will have to mix with E85 which is also rare here but still can be found if you know where to look.

For the record, I have nothing against HPtuners. I perfer SCT because I have a Livewire and I don't want to learn how to tune my EB vehicles. That is just dangerous for my wallet and pistons. Plus I know myself and I will try to squeeze out every HP, which will lead to an obsession....lol. I know my limits.

once I have a tune I will not be pretending to be my own tuner, I will break something. Also I probably wont be going as far as your build, I just want a nice sleeper build I can cruise in.

I personally blame other people. If every wrx in a 500mile radius didn't throw revs at every single light.... if every single Mustang didn't launch like John Force is driving...if every Honda didnt try to cut me off before the next exit.....

It has to be their fault i need more power!

That is exactly what mine is. It is just a sleeper and I can cruise. It is just a full bolt on SHO with a very spicy E30 tune. I can drive my SHO with this tune cross country no problem, with zero worries.
