Thanks for the reply. QA1 is great stuff, I'm going to be using Promastars with some progressive springs. You could use Koni inserts too, with a hacked up stock strut housing. Some of the stockers were constant diameter too (rear only?). Koni might be stiffer, but it has the adjustment which is nice. Just not sure if you could dial it low enough...

p 205 50 16 front
p 245 40 17 rear

I may be going to a p205 40 16 up front to gain a little more clearance and drop it a little more.

Nice work Man !

Are you using the stock SHO subframe or made a new one?

I was going to do the same thing to my 1973 Toyota Corona Wagon but decided instead to install it North-South configuration mated to a T5 tranny.

Here's my Progress so far

I'll be following this thread.

Do you have images on how you did the AC and PS delete?
I'd like to do the same basically

The p/s delete is simple, leave the pump off and run a shorter belt. for the A/C you need to bodys support so most guys ( me included) just gut the compressor and use the aluminum body and factory bolts.

I used the stock subframe but its been modified so it can be pulled with 8 bolts instead of being welded in place like the factory shoguns did.

OK first off this is some of the best work I've seen on the net in a while.[ I am in no way Questioning your ability ] I opted for four pieces of 3/4" pipe with a washer welded to each end to delete my A/C compressor . They have been working well and never broke bent or anything else since first installed several years ago. Just a thought. Kee up the great work and pic's.

You really need to get some more updates. Not exactly my style but the pictures and progress are almost a year old.

I was going to do the same thing but having the old dead compressor laying around I just "went for it"

Heres how the sub frame worked out. The front subframe mount "eyes" were cut off and flat plates were welded on. These each have a bolt hole on each side that attaches to a 2x3 cross memeber welded into the car.

The rear is close to the same, a couple plates welded over the rear subframe mount eyes, these bolt to the roll cage. I mounted mine a little higher up into the car to make it sit lower then a factory shogun.

to pull the engine / subframe you lower it to the ground, unbolt the 8 bolts, put the engine hoist inot the rear hatch , attach it to the roll cage and lift the car. Then just slide the guts out the back.

Heres a REAL RARE PICTURE !!

This is the last surviving SHOgun subframe that was never completed, along it life the subframe was switched from a MTX unit to a 3.8, the roll bar, strut support and cross memebrs are correct for a Shogun. You can see how it was all welded in place.

Yours is better than the shoguns . I wish I lived in Md. I'd hang out in the corner and watch you build this .

And maybe touch myself a little during the process.

maybe not.
