I replaced the cabin filter and noticed ALL 4 of the screw that hold the outer black cover are GONE. I searched the forums and found where Paul Nimz suggests to get 1" #10 washer head phillips weatherguard black screws from a hardware store.
I can't find them. Anyone know who might carry them?

I just went to Ford and bought some the other day (in anticipation of my chip showing up). They were like $5.30 for 8 of them. But I get a discount for my car club so I don't know the list price.

It says this above the barcode:

ONE PKG OF 8 PCS
W704881-S300

I too broke a few screws upon removal. I found them in the help section at my local auto-zone. Said right on the package, for Taurus and Sable cowl covers. Like 2.99 or some small amount like that.

Good Luck

What I have ended up doing is using the 1.25" x #10 black weatherguard screws available from www.mcmaster.com and some speed nuts on the cowling to thread them into. Do not over tighten. My glass man said that is why I broke two windshields..... :jpshakeh:
