my 89 cooling fan turns on as soon as i start the car, and its not like the car was driven before. i let it sit for like 2 weeks without starting it and then its been doing that for the last couple days, as soon as i start it, its on. i know its keeping the engine cool but i don't want the fan to die, anyone know what it is?

Sounds like something is shorted out. Either the relay or the signal going to it. Try giving the IRCM a whack to jar the relay.

IRCM = Integrated Relay Control Module. has relays for fuel pump, cooling fan contained within it.

I have the same problem. Just happened all of a sudden. Turn on the ignition and the fan will run for 30 seconds then turn off. A/C and defrost are off, doesn't matter what the outside temp is.
