A friend has a '92 Sable with a factory JBL radio/slave CD/sub system that he is getting rod of. I need to know if just the radio/CD combo will work in my '95 Sable, without installing all of the sub/amp stuff from the trunk. Anything special I would need to make this work? What all from the '92 do I need? Thanks for all replies.

Well, if you don't already have a premuim sound system or higher you will need eveything including the wiring to get it to work.

you could add the cd player to your headunit if it has the same plug in in that back as your friends. You will not be able to get the sound or use the sub without doing all that jello said.

So i can't use just the head unit and slave CD without all the rest of the stuff?

The headunit that will connect to the slave CD player is a preamp only setup and requires an amp. Also the stand alone CD players there were in some other Ford vehicals were the same way. If you current tape decks connections look like this:
D9 1
You can hook up a slave CD player

If it looks like this:

You cannot hook up a slave CD player.

Jello I have seen an amplified ford radio (like the pic on the bottom) with the connector in the back that you can plug a cd player into. They came in mid 90's escorts and some other models. They are hard to find but have been showing up in odd places.

Where do you plug the 6 pin connector for the CD player in at? I have seen some newer Mustangs that have non-full logic (ie mechaincal) tape decks that have the preamp loop for a CD player, is that what you are refering to?
