I just bought a 93 SHO with the factory premium JBL system w/ Subwoofer in it.

Couple questions:

# 1 The CD player will not accept a CD but the illumination lights up on it...IS IT DEAD?

# 2 How hard is it to take the system out of this SHO and put in another that did not come with the premium sound?

Subwoofer
Amps
CD Player
etc.??????????????

Thanks.

it is easy as cake to take the stock system out and replace it with something better. if you have any experience what-so-ever it will not take you long at all. as far as whether it is dead or not it depends, do you mean you cant put a cd in or it wont read it? if it doesnt read it try a lens cleaner first, theyre cheap and i think you can get them at any music, car audio store. if it doesnt go in then it may only be the slider mechanism inside which may or may not be worth fixing depending on who does it and how much you get charged. i would say upgrade. its easy as **** and sounds better, just look at my stereo list. didnt take me long at all wink

Just a thought...If the cd that your trying to put in is a burnt cd, some players have trouble reading them. I have replaced the stereo in my 91 And i love it. Better sound quality. Also mine never had a factory sub, but it has a 12" sub now.
Good luck

hit the eject button. maybe you got a free CD with the car. wink

Sounds to me like he wants to put he JBL system in a different car.

My 90 has 6" in the doors, and 6's on the rear deck, and 6x9's under the rear deck.
