i'm interested in doing a complete revamp of my SHO's system, so to plan it out, i need to know the exact sizes of all speakers in the car.. i have researched a bit and it seems the door speakers are 5 1/2 and the rear are 6x8? is this true? i want to be sure to buy all the right sizes so i don't have to cut any of the stock locations(i want to be able to swap back in everything stock when i sell the car) thanks, Justin

the front doors are 5 1/2, and the rears are 6x8...if you have a sub, I believe it is a 6.5"...that should be it..

How come Crutchfield lists my fronts as being 6.5"? I have a 93 and it didn't come with a sub or CD player, I assume that's the base stereo.

i've got a 95 w/the jbl premium sound/ factory double DIN setup with CD player, so how do i know if i have a sub? there IS something under the front passenger seat that oculd look like an amp? you're sayin it's 5 1/2 in the 2 front doors, 6x8 in the rear behind the headrests, what about back doors? 6 1/2? the amp/sub shouldnt be important for sizing, because IF i add those too i'll be building a custom trunk box...

Read Shotimes.com regarding that. :) Anything with a JBL has the factory bass add-ons, as these were featured only with the top notch system, not their "premium" system which was FAR from that.. lol...

As per shotimes "Upgrading the Audio System" under "modifications":

"Speakers: Front doors can mount 5 1/4" or some 6 1/2" units. Some drilling will be required as the factory speakers have an oddly shaped mounting plate. Pre '92 cars also have 3 1/2" cutouts in the dash for tweeters. Rear: 6x8 standard, 6x9 possible with some metalwork"

Hope this helps! :salute:

The rears take a 5x7/6x8 speakers, the fronts, rather than know the speaker size, you want to know the opening size and the depth. Some 5.25's fit perfect as do some 6.5's. However some 6.5's are too large for the mounting plates and some 5.25's are too small. If you have a crutchfield catalog, I am pretty sure they have those measurements in there.

WOAH! I just looked, sure enough.... are the cutouts complete? because i can see a shaddow for a 3.5" hole... I'm now tempted to buy some tweeters! :****:

after doing all this asking, i noticed that most online stores have fit guides, where you enter your car, and it tells you what speakers fit. i reccomend this because even if a speaker is the right size, the mounting dimensions (depth, etc) could make it hard to fit in the car.
