estimated blend door cost

has anyone had their blend door replaced at an independent or dealer shop...
I`m just trying to get an idea as to average cost...

It's labor-intensive, the entire dash needs to come out. It's one of the nastier jobs to do on a Taurus, i.e., not cheap just because of the labor involved.

I spent around $900 but it came with some other A/C work as well.

$400 Independent radiator-A/C shop in Ca. (Bay Area). I asked one of the guys if he would do it on the side. Shop price was 850 .$50 for the actual part. This was on a 95MTX.
