Ok well I switched out the IAB thinking that was the problem, but apparently it wasn't. After the car is warmed up it like to drop down and kick back up at idle, sometimes stalling itself. As far as I can see there are no vacuum leaks and I have a vacuum gauge in the car so I would think that I would notice a problem there. I'm not sure where else to look.

I know it's not the plugs and wires. They are all less than 5000 miles old and the problem is only apparent at idle. It also happens at idle if the car is out of gear, which I think eliminates the torque converter. I'm at my wits end. Could someone help me?

P.S: No codes.

Now you know why we all love SHO's squint .

Does it rev high when driven like past 4000-5000RPM? My 2mth old plugs only had about 2,000miles and were already fouled out so with the SHO it can defitnaly be possible even though it made no difference when I replaced them again.

Not that it would necessarily cause the problem you are describing, but did you reset the idle program after replacing the IAC valve?

Yes I did.

And Edian, The car has no problems revving and doesn't miss at high RPMs. That's why I thik it's not the plugs.

Mickey, mine did the same thing you are describing. It ended up being the crankshaft timing gear. It broke the woodruff key and moved a little (so the timing was off). There was reddish dust all over inside the timing belt cover. frown

Are you sure about the vacuum leaks? I had one on my '97 that didn't really show up on the gauge. What does the gauge read when the engine is fully warmed up at idle?

You know Phil I suppose a small vacuum leak would maybe not show up on the gauge, but I'm not sure that a small vauum leak could cause the problem I'm having. At idle it sits at about - 18.

On my '97 the vacuum would read a steady 16" at hot idle. It did the same thing your's is doing though with a loping idle. You couldn't hear any leaking but I found the EGR valve wasn't torqued to the intake by spraying carb cleaner at the joint. The car now will idle at 20" when hot.

And i'm Paul, the other guy is Phil. wink
