I bought a 95 atx that was running rough. The female owner said the well seals were leaking and that is why it ran that way.Replaced the wires and plugs, started backfired through manifold and died. did not start after that.checked ground, timing and ran eec test.replaced crank sensor(looked very old.It will revolve and then you hear slight backfire but I thought timing was culprate but is fine.Perhaps this is a symptom of Cam sensor falure? The engine firing stops it from revolving sometimes. I hope I have been Clear.
Also the firing order is correct without a doubt and before it was diffivult to start.

You said you replaced the plugs and wires... Is there still oil in the spark plug wells? You need to replace the spark plug well gaskets to get it to stop leaking oil in there. If you are absolutely sure the wires are hooked up right can you post the order so we can make sure.

Thanks for the reply:
The firing order is from the chiltons manual and autozone and murrays. the wires are not loose, the sensor is gapped to specs.I appoligize,I was not clear when I stated the crankshaft sensor was replaced after it would not start;the intake backfired before it was replaced. Also when I bought the car the dummy light was not operational,I took it apart and fixed it.As for checking the codes I dont have them any more and will check them again.I am fairly competent at auto repair so I know what to start with. this is clearly a sensor issue and as many know, the computer does not always tell bad sensors.Oh by the way the fuse for the tach was bad and I replaced it and when revolving the engine it barely lifts from the needle stop.
Thanks again.

Ok well that's probably your issue then...the firing order in the Chilton's is wrong and the Autozone webpage doesn't list the coilpack order. The correct firing order is as follows:

Engine:

123
456

Coil pack:

51
62
43
