Ok guys, I was out driving my dad's 96 and the temerature gauge never got much above the mark above the C. Is this the normal running temp for a gen 3? I know if it were this low on a gen 1 or 2 the temp sending unit would need replacement. The heat kicks on normally, so I'm guessing the thermostat is good. Any help here? Thanks :salute:

Unless you know what the temp really is then it's only a guess. But I would suspect the gage sender.

186-192 is normal operating temp.

I guess what I'm really asking is there a need to replace anything, and if so what? Is this the normal temp the gen 3's run at?

Most of the V8SHOs I've been in (and heard about) were running between 1/4 and 1/3 of the way up from C. (So a little under 1/2 way, in other words.) Mine gets up to 1/4 pretty rapidly and then stays there no matter what.

Unless you know the true temperature of the coolant there is no way to know if the gage is accurate or not.
