My SHO stalled for no reason I know of. It was near 90 degrees that day and i was driving in stop and go traffic. The temp. gauge was reading higher than it normally does. I pulled into a parking lot for a couple of minutes, and then it stalled out. It was in Drive and i had my foot on the brake when it happenned. I cranked it but it wouldn't start, so I pushed it into a space. I opened the hood, let it cool down for 10 minutes, started it up and drove away. Engine ran great, but then it happened again. This time I was going 45. Same thing happened, it dropped below idle speed, fought it a little, and then totally died and the tach read 0. I pulled over and waited then drove some more. I eventually got the car home. It starts right up after it stalls, but then quickly stalls again. I had to wait several minutes before it would start and run again. Once it was running it ran fine. I got on the freeway and it ran smooth up to redline. It stalled when i started slowing down to get off the freeway. The engine didn't seem to be getting the fuel it needed, but i was not out of gas. I drove my SHO the next day and it ran fine without problems. Is it my fuel pump? which i think makes a whining sound. Is it a bad sensor somewhere? I need to figure this out. I need to fix it so i dont lose trust in a car that has been so great.

It's a 1994 ATX - Thanks

OR possibly the fuel pump. Check for the tach to registar about 300 rpm while cranking. If it does it rules out the CPS.

I had 300 rpm on my tach with no spark. The CPS failed; the new one I installed as a PM when I did the 60k.

If you had a tach signal then your Crank Position Sensor was still good.

well i drove to my friends house and was there for about 10 mins. i came back to my car and turned the key. just kept cranking and cranking. the tach read this..... 0, 0, 0, 0, 300, 0, 0, 0, 300, 0, 0, 0. Then i tried cranking again. I got the same thing. Then i tried a third time and just kept getting 0. I ran the codes and got the cps which i have gotten for about 5 months now but i'm thinking that it has finally crapped out on me. I finally got it started up about 15 mins later. cps everyone???

I never got codes from my CKP and I don't remember if the tach had any RPM's on it but I do know that it went from stalling at a light and restarting immeadiatly to stalling and then waiting 10 minutes to restart. Dealership changed the cam sensor, fuel pump, ICM, blah, blah.. finally I changed the CKP and it was fine...

Yes, you getting the code for the crank position sensor and your getting all the right symptoms. Replace your Crank Position Sensor.
