So it would need piston and rings assuming the scoring could be honed out
You can sleeve the cylinders if the hone does not remove the grooves, it is worth getting some quotes as it is not prohibitive financially.

Getting ready to install the replacement engine. You got the whole thing? Cool. Now you can rebuild the one you have, take a look at the rotating parts and clean/work the heads and valves. I've seen a combustion chamber insert on a livernois webpage somewhere so there is some stuff out there to consider.

It's not bad with a lift. You have skills. I could never attempt that. Of course, I don't an engine hoist either![]()
Replacement complete, runs great. In the lessons learned category I would recommend all new turbo seals for oil and coolant lines. I had the rear leaking and it was tough to replace in car. I will also drop the entire strut next time and put the subframe on jack stands with wheel dolly's. Was tough getting it aligned when lowering the car .

I spoke too soon, I have a coolant leak under the Intake. I didnt replace the crossover tube oring after I moved it around some and its leaking. I also reused the intake o rings and I suppose the rear coolant passage could also be the cause. Its always a PITA working within the confines of the engine bay on FWD cars lol. I remember when I saw the SHO 3.2 on a stand, thinking how small it actually was compared to the fear factor of working on it.
