There are MANY things to disconnect to pull the motor out... basically anything that's attached to it (not to be a wiseguy). But I would suggest you pull the motor and tranny as one assembly. Just from experience I found it easier to do, then pulling them seperately. And then trying to put them back in apart from one another.

When i did mine i left the trans in place. For instructions i went to the library and looked at the old motors manuels. That gave me a great step by stop on what to do and everything was exact. Pull all hoses, main wiring from rear of intake, pullies, air intake(made it easier), radiator, and everything else around the the motor. Dont forget to take off the CV Shaft mid bearing.

Yup, I second that shaft bearing...whoops! Matt and I forgot about that when we pulled my engine out..damn thing wouldn't budge, then we noticed it was still attached  IIRC the whole process
The night before, sprayed everything with PB Blaster
Took off intake box and tubing(manifold was gone over a year ago)
Drained coolant, disconnect hoses
Removed radiator shroud
Removed radiator
Disconnect alternator, a/c lines and connections, p/s
Removed Ypipe and O2 sensors
Removed starter
Removed engine limiting bars on top
Removed accessory belts
Took off engine mount bolts
Supported oilpan with wood and jack
Unbolted tranny
I think that was all, oh yeah, get that carriar bearing disconnected by the rear engine mount before lifting engine

i know people that drop the engine and tranny while it's still in the subframe, it's actually quite easy that way if you can get the car up high enough, but this was done on a lift so i don't know how good it would be with jack stands and a jack.

If you've got just jackstands, you'll have to drop it through the top, so you'll obviously need an engine hoist and leveler. If you're going to do it this way, I'd recommend dropping it all in one piece, ie. tranny already mounted to engine. It's a good idea to have someone that at least somewhat knows what they're looking for down below to make sure you're going in the right direction when you lower it back in or else you'll be there all day, up and down, trying to line everything back up.
But as far as removal, it's pretty basic. Disconnect anything and everything that is attached. I HIGHLY recommend using a color-coded system of zip ties for your wiring so you'll be able to easily find what belongs where when you go to re-install. Or you can stick a tag of tape around each loose end and number or letter it and it's corresponding loose end. Nick and I made the mistake of not bothering to do this the first time :bonk: , DUH, and it was a nightmare to figure out! :omg:

Ryan,

We'll drop the whole subframe out. I've got everything needed to it. Should take about a weekend. MTX is way easier then ATX and I did that one in a weekend.
