I recently rebulilt my 3.2L, and made sure I replaced every seal and gasket I could find.

Except for one. Of course, it decided to effin' leak.

So, now that I've learned of the oil filter gasket trick, does anyone know of the proper torque value for the cooler bolt?

Thanks.
H.

FWIW, while I know it's not really helpful, I usually use the 3/8" impact to put them back together, so "really tight" would probably be acceptable.

For the V8 is it 30-36 lb/ft but I believe they use loctite on it because it was a bugger to loosen.

Well, a couple of things I've learned...

The oil filter gasket trick is hit or miss. In trying to build oil pressure before firing the engine, I pumped ~2 quarts of oil onto my garage floor because the seal shifted while I was torquing the cooler to the block.

The seal from the other oil cooler I have lying around also leaks.

I have one more seal left to try. Wish me luck.

Fixed! :)

Believe it or not, it was the cooler itself that had the leak. Good thing I hoard parts from everything I buy!
