Just get a remote start on your car like I did. Cost to have installed some where around $200. Then all you gotta do is press the button and start it up 15 min before you leave.

Using a remote start to "pre heat" your car in sub freezing temps is not a very good idea...

In NJ...? Umm... sub-freezing is below 32 degrees.. don't you get snow? Yes.. so I doubt it's rare you get sub-freezing temps.

Get the engine block heater. They work the best in my experience. Don't be afraid to use it. Your engine oil will flow better at startup reducing wear. And your engine will get to closed loop faster saving fuel. Use a timer to turn it on 1.5hours before you start our car. And....Get an aftermarket seat heater while you are at it. Just one of those cheapies that plug into the lighter. Anything to make winter a little more bearable. I don't understand why anyone would hesitate to use an engine heater. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Especially for $100 installed.
