Engine dumps upon acceleration

Car: 1994 Taurus SHO, Auto, 120K

Just got done doing the 60K- gaskets, plugs, wires, etc, thought the maintenance would fix it...
btw, this problem existed before the maintenance.

Car starts right up no problems, the problem can occur in park or in drive, give it gas or "stomp on it" and you can hear an breath of air from the front of the engine then it dumps like it's going to die, then it will slowly rev up to whatever rpm you are gassing it to. If you slowly ease into the throttle it will rev up fine, but if you give it gas quick, it dumps again.

I tried, all gears, forward and reverse- does the same thing.

Any ideas?

In Addition: just replaced the "Throttle Position Sensor" and it did not fix the problem.

check your fuel pressure, and make sure the small vac line does not have a cut in it like mine did....

Probably wouldn't hurt to post in the V-6 section too. You'll get more bites I'm guessing.

That just screams "fuel pressure issue"

Check pressure at the rails.


It also couldnt hurt to take it to a place that reads your error codes for free. Auto Zone does this.

by dumps do you mean rev up real quick?

fuel filter? fuel in the line then when you mash it the filter slows fuel delivery,so the motor bogs.

by dumps, I mean it drops in power, the engine acts like it's gonna die for like 5 seconds seconds, then it slowly starts building momentum until it's up to speed with what i pushed the throttle to.

I will check the fuel lines and rails again, if anything esle comes to mind , let me know, thanks all!
