I just picked up this 1993 SHO and it obviously was owned by a kid (no offense to any one here intended). I plugged my code reader in and came up with codes 118 and 551. I did read what the codes indicate but what driveablilty issues would they cause?

Right now the car is really down on power... like my old SLO 3.0 would blow this thing away. The car isn't blowing smoke or anything else to indicate it's time for a rebuild. A little noise in the top end but no way it could **** performance this much. Could either of these codes turn it into a dog?

The kid hacked the mufflers off so the thing is damn loud. Tough to drive it around without creating neighbor issues so that's one of the first projects.

Since I sold my 95 a few years back I've really missed it. This one is in rough shape but it's a SHO. Glad to be back.

If it's that down on power i would say that maybe the timing is off, the top end noise you are hearing might be the timing belt slapping against the timing belt cover.

Thanks, really missed my old SHO. Had to sell the Thunderbird SC too so no toys for quite a while.

I did find a lot of info on what the codes mean and what the fix would be. Just wondering if either would result in a slow SHO.

I really need to post some pics of this car. Chrome double blade wipers, little chrome wheels, stereo stickers, starter is fired off a little button in the driver's kick panel, spray painted intake... while it was still on the car. Not sure if it was done as a joke or someone's serious attempt to '****' their ride.

Just sold my 95 SLO but it had decent SHO interior and slicers. Should have kept the stuff for this one.

Yes, except the codes are 3 digits rather than 2 digits.

FWIW I just dealt with the same two codes on my 95 after the 3.2 install. Turns out I busted the ect sensor (back side of the manifold two pin connector). Swapped the original from the 3.0 in and cleared the codes. Now to deal with the 6 ABS codes it is throwing....
