drop the subframe with the drivetrain attached. The way I did it was to unhook the engine wiring from the body wiring, unhook the ball joints & tie rod ends, unhook the axles from the knuckles, unhook the cooling system, unhook the exhaust, unhook the A/C and wire tie the PS reservoir to the engine. I then put 2 1000lb appliance dollies under the subframe and lowered the car on to them. Undo the 4 subframe bolts and the lift the body off the drivetrain and roll it back over the engine.

^^^ ditto, did it that way and it took no time at all. Reinstallation was even easier seeing that all we did was lift the car up (no jacks reqd.) and place it over the subframe and bolt it together. Took a few hours tops.

What would you guys recommend for a first timer working alone with no lift? Out the top, or out the bottom?

I'm hoping to get to this in the next month or two.
