I think that I am going to be keeping my car for a while after all. now i just need to get everything all converted over to AZ registration. i am assuming they are going to make me take my car to the emissions station before they will register it though. i have never been to an emissions test before so what should i expect? are they just going to hook it up and test for codes or will they pull it up on the rollers?

Aaron,

They'll put it up on the rollers and run the test that way. You won't have a problem with your car by any means.
Glad your keeping it.

I've taken two vehicles through emmisions here in AZ... both times they failed me for a gas cap... one of them was only a year old! You might want to do yourself a favor and just get yourself a new one before you go. Save your receipt incase they try to say it's bad. They tested mine twice. The first time it passed.. so they tested it again and it failed.. BOO HOO! I also has high NOX due to the ammount of carbon built up in my combustion chambers. I did the de-carbon proceedure that I found on shotimes.com and it worked great. I have to put an in-line oil catch can in my pvc system because my engine is a bit worn at 173k and it keeps getting carboned up.

Hey SHOguy,
My 95' SHO didn't pass emissions this past jun/jul and I had only 65-70k and still stock with no upgrades. I ended up getting the de-carbon procedure done before it would pass. Once that was completed it passed on the first try with a significant value change in the NO2 from 2.14 (failed) down to 1.57 (Pass) and 2.00 is the limit if you can get that done before you go it may help....Good Luck

Aaron,

Can you run the codes somehow? If you can't and can bring it out here tomorrow, I'll run them and help you fix it.

i might be able to come up tomorrow. i am not going to make it to the eibach install. if you send me the procedure on how to pull the codes i should be able to run them and let you know what they come back as. i had the link before about the paper clip in the code reader but i dont remember where i saw it.

i am thinking that i am just going to end up changing the O2's. the CEL is completly random. doesnt matter if its 40 or 70 degrees. the only thing that seems to change is that it wont turn on when the motor is hot.

i work til 5 today so i will get back to you about coming up tomorrow.

thanks tom.

Might just need a thorough cleaning of the EGR nostrils inside the intake splitter, behind the throttle body. I can help you do that with a little tool I made. Bring a can of Berryman's B-12 if you can.

You short a couple of the pins in the test connector to make your CEL blink out codes, but since I have a code reader, I've never bothered to learn which pins.
