Hello, I am finishing up my all new Rear brake work tonight or tomorrow. I am installing new Rotors, Calipers, and Pads. When I started the E-brake cable was not hooked up at all on the driver side, and on the passenger side it is through the hole on the caliper that holds it there. The guy told me not to use the ebrake at all, so now I know why. Anyways, can I put my brakes back together and do the E-brake cables after the fact? I know that on the passenger side I need to cut the end of so I can remove it from the caliper, and exchange the caliper for a new one. I am just not familiar with the process of hooking them back up. I am assuming that I should get new cables.

Any help and or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

on my 95 i didnt need to cut the Ebrake cables. If ur handy with a flatblade screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers you should be able to wiggle it out like i did. But hey if new cables are cheap might as well replace them while ur at it.

Cables?

I was probably just going to replace them. Everything was pretty rusted up and I don't think they are that expensive. Not positive though, last I was on the Advance Auto Parts site I think they were $25, that might have been one side or something. Does anyone know for sure? Is there a good place to get them?

Thanks

Yes you can finish your brakes and install new E brake cables later. Adjusting the E brakes can take a couple of attempts, both wheels must have the brake applied equally. Did you get new slider pins? Or at least clean and grease the old ones?

New parts

Yeah, the calipers came with new sliders, nuts and all hardware needed. Was pretty impressed, and at a good price too.
