Your going to have to do somthing about the parking brake switch. That's why the light is on all the time.

FYI
my e-brake pedal is pushed in forever incase I ever decide to fix it.

I pulled it up to make contact with the trigger with no change in the light. Isn't there just a wire I can snip??? anyone.... anyone....

Exactly why did you not replace the E-brake? If it's not on there, chances are you won't get the light to turn off. Not to bust your balls, but ripping out an integral part of the system is a bad idea.

You may want to check your State motor vehicle code to find out if it is legal to drive on your State's roads without an emergency brake that is operable.

The emergency brake is a safety device and most states require that it be in operating condition. Your insurance company may also be concerned about the fact that you removed a safety device.

If you are just driving the car on a race track, and not on public roads, then you should be OK. If you are driving on public roads, then you should become familiar with the legal terms "negligence", "willful", "intentional disregard", and civil and criminal liability. rangerj

I apreciate the concearn by all, but this was not my question. I'm not that interested if it were legal or not. if I weren't going to be doing anything illegal then why did I buy a SHO

Just my 2 cents but I had an older '92 SHO where I was in an accident because I couldnt stop, and the the last thing on my mind was the e-brake.

Anyway back to my original question - what can I CUT to get rid of the light...

When the e-brake pedal pushes against the switch it breaks the circuit. So, tape or wire the switch in the "open" position and the light will go out. Then when you are ready to restore the e-brake you will not have to repair the circuit. You could also wire or tape the pedal in its full "up" position which would also push the switch into the "off" position.

Best of luck, rangerj

Some systems use the brake light to alert the operator of problems with the system. My old Camry did this, as did our old Voyager, and my '93 would turn on the light when the fluid got low. Not having your e-brake available to the system might be part of your problem. This is what I am getting at when I say it is a bad idea. You could be eliminating a safety device, namely your brake warning light. Now it's crying wolf and you might just find yourself in another "can't stop" situation.

Your ABS has a light all its own. For the amount of time you will spend trying to disconnect a wire, you could just put an e-brake back on the SHO.

FWIW, my e-brake light would stay on constantly because the pedal stopper was misplaced. I got used to it. Other times I just kicked it up good and hard so it would sometimes stay off all day.

Unpluging the wire from the top of the ebrake switch will turn off the light if that is the reason it is on.

Simple solution;Spend a few buck's and send it to a repair shop if you really want the light out.Why leave it half a**?
If the light didn't go out when e brake switch was unplugged(single wire that plugs to white plastic switch on the top of the e brake assy),ever look at the brake fluid level?

I would like to send to repair shop, but I didnt send it there in the beginning nor would I like to know for the same reason. Repair shops cost money, If its not critical, its not going.

I will try unplugging the wire in the next couple of days.

Brake fluid is fine.

Thanks again
