Ok, so i just tried to start the SHO and the positive cable at the terminal started to smoke and the wire was STUPID hot, i cranked it 2 times for a combined cranking time of 5 seconds or so. Where could my short be? Im going to go buy a new clamp and see if thats the case because it looks pretty loose and roted!! Thanks

5 bucks says you just troubleshot it. The battery terminals become loose and/or corroded over time, and will eventually always cause this problem.

****, while you're at it, replace the whole cable. It's not nearly as hard as it might seem. 9 feet of cable will be enough, and you'll have about 6-9 inches of leeway.

$20 says it starts turning colors within a month... if it was corroded that bad.. you would be suprised what that wire looks like underneath that insulation.. as soon as it starts down the wire.. it goes really fast. Resistance = Heat FWIW I think I bought all 3 cables at Advance for $25-30. 2 AWG Ground, 4 AWG for the other 2.

That resistance is a strain on everyting in its path. My SHO definately woke up when I replaced that 3rd cable from the starter to the underhood fuse block. :)
