Over the last 6 months I have had the following problems:

1) Car idling for 5 minutes with A/C on. Start driving and the compressor clutch disengages and wont reengage for 5-10 minutes of highway driving.

2) Air bag system (flashing air bag light) intermittently indicating a bad sensor.

3) High fuel consumption. Driving on highway at 75 mph - get 280 miles per tank of gas.

4) Rough transmission downshifts.

5) Lack of passing power - could barely pass a 1.9L 1991 ******.

6) Four days ago the battery light began glowing while engine was idling.

7) Three days ago ABS light starting coming on.

8) The remote keyless entry would not work if I was more than 4 feet away from the car.

It turns out the alternator was bad. After replacing it all the above problems are gone. I had been trying to figure out the cause of problem #1 (above) and was banging my head on the wall - I just couldn't figure it out.

The difference in drivability really shocked me. The car now feels new again. The power is back and the ATX is shifting perfectly. The reduction in fuel consumption also shocked me.

Never did I think that a bad alternator could cause so many problems.
