Eibachs on '00/01 Sable?

Hey my friend has a Mercury Sable he'd like to lower a little. I believe it's a 00 or an 01...it's listed as the year after what they sell the 3rd gen eibachs for..is this later car completely different or could he use the '96-99 springs?

Yes my friend has a hand-me-down sable...looking to put exhaust, springs, shocks, swaybars on it. It's a pretty nice car...not as fast as the SHO (yes he tried for it...)
