I believemy ec is going out is their anything i need to know before replacing it also where can i get one?.

Here's a video on how to remove all of the stuff in the way. It's very easy, all you need is a socket set and a windshield wiper arm pulling tool, which you can get at any parts store.

You can generally just get another one at a junkyard. Go to https://car-part.com/ and search for "Engine Computer". Then take it to the dealer to flash it - it's much cheaper than buying one new (one dealer I went to wanted something like $1500 for a new one).

do i take it to ford to get it programmed or do i have to find someone to do it?

Take it to Ford. Supposedly it costs about $125-$150 to do it. I do not know if you need your old ECU for it, so might as well keep it on hand.

Also, just to make sure it's the ECU going out and not something else, it wouldn't hurt to send it off to Circuit Board Medics. If it's not faulty, they'll refund you and send it back. It might be less of a pain in the ass, and cheaper, to have it repaired than replaced if it's not necessary.

could a cheap battery cause problems?
