I'm replacing the rear passenger caliper on my car along with the brake hose. I searched and it sounds like you remove the little clip on the ebrake then it should pull through so I could then swap the calipers.

When I started I noticed there was no clip on the cable. Below are some pictures of how it is currently.

Should the ebrake cable just pull through the hole? It does not budge no matter what we have tried. Also, if thats the case is it possible to just cut it? I have a dremel that should do the job. The ebrake was sticking anyways and I was thinking of just replacing the cables. Me and my brother have tried removing the cable numerous times with no luck.

Ummm.... Hammer + Screwdriver... or a punch... knock that POS outta there... :) Heat might work, maybe scratch the surface around the edge where it meets and spray it with JB before you do it maybe... sometimes those things just like to come out hard.. :)

See we thought that would work. Tried a mallet and screwdriver, hit it with lots of PB, also tried scraping around the edges a little but no luck. Nothing ever comes out easy or goes in easy on this car. This car always demands endless amounts of time even for the simplest things.

I did mine about a year ago. I used vise grips to get it loose and just beet the sht out of it. It made me very angry for something so simple. I replaced the cables and calipers. good luck

Just did this last night, and I found that the angle that the cable made as it entered the little metal loop on the caliper is important, try moving the cable towards the heat sheild to improve the angle. In particular my drivers side one was binding until I straitened it out w/r/t the loop.

I assume you have already removed the end of the cable from the spring/lever.

Now if I could only get the rear disc off . . . . zak

Thx for the advice, may give it another go. If it still wont come out, dremel time.

Also zak, those rear calipers are a pain to get out cause of the dang caliper bracket. We changed one of 'em and it was very difficult to remove the rear caliper bolts. Used lots of PB.

Just to clarify, I held the cable straight going in to the caliper and a helper did the large screwdriver across the cable end with hammer trick.

PB Blaster is a must for this kind of work . . .

mine was kind of like that on both of my cars. I just used a good ole vise grips and twisted and worked that baby out.

I wouldnt exactly use a dremel to cut that. it will ruin it quickly... ive learned that quickly when i tried to cut one of those off of my old parts car.
