Anybody know how to put a hard button 95 head on a 94 control unit? I have 2 95 hard button units with blown led function.

Blown led?

Do you mean the display is dead or are you missing some of the backlighting on the pushbuttons? I have some of the new style lamps laying around the shop along with several displays removed from 93-94 units. They should swap right in.
You can PM me if you want to talk about the repairs.

My 94 unit works fine but the buttons are shot. It looks like the 95 unit may fit on the 94 body.

The swap you are wanting to do may be possible, however, it will be a bit more detailed than simply swapping the faceplates. If you place the units side by side you will be able to see the differences I am going to point out. If you look at the top of each unit you will see the center keyway is different. On the bottom, the catches are located slightly differently and the 95 unit replaces the lower key with another catch.
I have never run into a unit with a failed display, let alone two of them so I am wondering if you may have gotten ahold of a unit for a diifferent vehicle. Ford changed the pinouts on the connectors to make sure units would not work from one model to another. The only units I know of that will fit and function correctly are the Taurus/Sable hard button units. Your units should have black cases and should have the part number F5DH-19C933-(XX) on its paper label.
Bottom line. You may be able to repair the units by merely replacing the display (I have several if if you're interested) providing you have access to soldering equipment. If it's something you would not want to tackle yourself, I am willing to help.

OK. My 94 display works fine and buttons all light. My 95 display does not work but the buttons light up. I am pretty good with a soudering iron so maybe if we are not working with microscopic wires, I can do it. Are there any diagrams available?

Sorry, no diagrams are available. Once you get the faceplates removed, it should be fairly evident what you will need to desolder to replace the display.
I strongly suggest buying/borrowing a vacuum type desoldering tool and a soldering iron with a 1/16 " chisel tip. A manual vacuum tool will suffice for component removal.(I can't stand solder wick!) If you want one of the display chips from me just PM me with your address. I would advise against using the 94 unit as the donor for the display unless this car is not your daily driver, this time of year isn't the best to be without A/C if something goes awry!
***CAUTION***The circuit board or components may be damaged by applying too much heat or by heating too long so be careful.
The end result will be well worth the effort so stick with it!

Thank you very much for the advise. I will be very careful and map everything before I proceed.

Mike knows what he's talking about. He put together the EATC that's in my SHO right now, which looks and works great. It's one of the better mods I've done:

In the meantime, good luck with the soldering iron, let us know how things go.

Mike, how hard is it to do the work to swap them out? I picked up my 92 MTX this weekend and all the buttoms are busted and I like how the one in that picture looks.
