I had to edit my post for accuracy.

Where I posted that the dash has to come out should read Instrument panel removal.
One of my need for repair is for my 1989 Sho EAC control.
The small light bulb that illuminates the temp setting went out.
Odd thing, the other day the bulb went back on for 1 day then went off again.
I have the new bulb and read the shop manual of how to install it.
But of course its not that simple. It explains how to pull off the dash plastic.
Then says to remove steering column. Was wondering if that is really necessary.
If anyone has removed their EAC and has some tips on what only needs to be removed to get the EAC out, I would appreciate it.
Also, with the dash plastic being 30 years old, am I going to be breaking off plastic clips and having trouble putting them back on?

Thanks, Richard.

It doesnt take much to remove the dash, it just sounds harder than it is. I'm not sure on the 89, but on 91 you pull the lower dash cover, a few screws around the guage cluster, then the rest pops off.

Thank you both for the advice and the photo. So it looks like the steering column has to come out to get the instrument panel pieces
off. That's more than I was expecting. But I will give it a try as soon as I can set aside the time.

This picture is part of the preparation to remove the dash. You don't need to remove the steering. You just need to remove the under-dash panel. I don't expect you'll need to un-bolt the headlight switch either if you have enough extra wire behind to pull it out and unplug it. After the bolts are out, then you just need to pull on the bezel slowly but firmly to disengage the push clips and unplug the rest.

Just a follow up on my repair. I finally had the time to get in there and fix the light.
Everything came apart and went back together just fine and I got the bulb in. And it works!
Thanks for all the help.
