My e-brake light constantly stays on. If I push it up it'll go off. Has anyone found an easy way to keep the light off? I'm starting to think of just disconnecting the light but wanted to see if anyone has found a way to keep it off (while still haveing it function properly). I thought of using a rubber band (or something) to hold it up but I just can't see it having eneough tension to hold up the brake while still having eneough play to set the brake. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

You probably need to adjust the PARKING brake cable. It's not an emergency brake, it's a parking brake.

Difference.... shrug If you're brakes go out (in an emergency) wouldn't you use the "parking brake" to slow down? Thus also making it an emergency brake? Anyway, is adjusting the cable something that can be done quickly? Never done anything with the secondary brake systems before so I'm ignorant as to how I should go about adjusting the cable tension. Thanks.

The cable runs under the car on the drivers side. There is a nut(?) that you can turn to adjust the tension. I need to do the same to mine, but I prefer a temperature of at least 30 before I lay on the ground to do any kind of work.

Check the emergency/parking brake return spring. The spring may be weak or broken. If the cable adjustment were that far off the pedal would go to the floor. rangerj
