Well friend, you are full of inaccurate assumptions and are therefore the one that's way off base here. "Search police" isn't a new term on forums, by any means. Not even close. Nor did I come up with it. It's an annoyance on MOST forums, as MOST enthusiasts have no issue replying and helping out other fellow enthusiasts. The search police get called out on most forums. You're just annoyed that you've put so much time and effort into documenting your mods/maintenance (you have, and it's good) and feel like everyone should just find your posts and follow it. However, as you've admitted yourself, your way isn't THE only way, and there is zero irrationality in asking the question to gather options and alternative ideas (as successfully played out in this very thread before you got butthurt for whatever irrational reason). This isn't excuse; it isn't deflection. As much as you point the finger and scream like a child that it is. It isn't. It's logical thought and curiosity. We don't all have access to the same tools or experience. It's absolutely irrational to get butthurt at someone looking for feedback/clarification/alternatives on something they have no prior experience with. Again, the POINT of a forum. Forum =/= repository/archive. Repository/archive is a backend benefit of a forum, and also historical. Information/experiences change/update with time. But sure, deflection. LOL. Whatthef*ckever.
Sigh.....you really can't help yourself can you? This is all getting pretty ridiculous and you're kinda starting to look pretty pathetic. Lol...well, since you're "that guy" I'm gonna educate you yet again.
I quoted "Search Police" not to indicate it as a new term but to showcase your idiotic deflection toward name-calling when you were called out on your laziness.
As for the nature of a forum? Lol, this was never part of the discussion but since you want to cling to it, let's entertain this for a bit. A forum IS NOT the place for ACTUAL, real-time "discussion" as you put it. Sure, that might've been case 5-10 years ago, but that arena has now been taken over by social media platforms, such as FB groups, chat groups, Twitter, etc. Thats were discussion truly happens. Its not a mystery that the forum concept as we know it has been dying for years because of this. I can't tell you how many forums are now dead because of the mass exodus to FB groups. Sure there is SOME discussion on forums, but usually from a small, select group of old timers or hard cores. I never disputed that. But to say this is THE place to come is naive and very boomer-ish. Get with the times buddy.
So where does this leave the forum, as a concept? As I said, a great place as a repository of information to search through. You don't see large, mega-posts and photo dumps or in-depth write ups on the social media outlets I mentioned earlier, that is what happens here. I just happen to have a website where I can post these things, but most people, put them on places like forums....so they can be referenced through time.
And to say things change...sure, I agree. But to bring this full circle and back to the point of this thread...the links I provided aren't very old...and there aren't multiple ways to make the conversion (I'm not referring to INSTALLATION into the vehicle), there's only one way to convert this module, LOL.
But back to my entire point....search before begging. It's a very simple concept. You'd have avoided all of this nonsense. But I get it, you're the guy who has to be right, so you change the parameters of the argument in attempts to suite your need. But in this case, you're just coming off as a clown.
Sorry to burst your bubble bud, but had to do it again. So now that's 2 lessons in 2 days. Again, you're welcome. Keep coming back for more if you'd like, I got plenty more to teach.
