Well, I was in my friends Eldorado and he has a Playstation 2 and a 5 inch screen that folds out of the deck...he plays games and watches movies, and after trying it, I want one for my car. Here's what I'm thinking, my friend said i could get a 5.5 inch screen for like 250 and then a DVD player for another 200, then me and him could do the install, (assuming my deck has inputs) i think it does. I could even go cheaper with a VCR b/c i have over 50 movies on cassete adn i dont have a DVD player. I could always upgrade to a dvd later. I was also thinking of getting a playstation 2 so i could play games and watch DVD's...i was wondering, has this been done in a SHO??? Any words of advice or better ways to do it??? Problems??? THanks!

Someone here had that in their sig but i cant seem to find out who...sorry about that. I can say that ebay has all these things on it for relatively cheap. If you do the install please take pics and do a how to page as i am sure at least i would be interested.

Acutually it was an idea of mine to do something like that. I will tell you my ideas on this. (free of charge

)

Alright first of all go buy a very good power inverter. Route the power inverter to the trunk, or whereever you want to mount everything. Get the lcd screen(s) of your choice and run the wires to the location of everything. Hopefully you have good aftermarket equipment so that you can run audio in to your deck. Run the wires from your equipment to your deck (if there are multipule wires use something to make it back into 2 a/v cables or 1 mini (i know aiwa uses this to hook up for an external mini-disc hookup)) Then get a very good universal remote that uses radio waves instead of inferred (like a whole house universal remote). The reason for this is because inferred sometimes works through stuff but not all the time. The whole house remote will work better and more reliable.

Just make sure your power inverter is hooked up so it goes off when you turn your car off...unless you want a dead battery.

If you need more information just ask....i tried to be kinda quick on this post. Also I know of a place that you can get an lcd screen cheaper....i'll ask drphang later and post that for you.

SHOOFF has a set up something like that in his car. I've got pics of the outside but not the inside so I can't show ya. It did look pretty slick though. He's from up in Michigan so look him up.

This really isn't a hard process if I was you I would do it myself. The only thing with this that I'm not sure of is having the power inverter installed and wires ran.

Ok, thanks a lot for all of your help...
OzzmanNT- all of that makes sense to me except the power inverter...i dont know what that is used for. And i appreciate that about getting the screens cheaper, that would be cool seeming that i dont have a ton of money spend. SHO 2NV- one question, where was his screen mounted?? thanks guys.

I was gonna go with a VCR setup in my car. I have a JVC head unit that suports VCR controls and i was gonna put the screen in the glove box for easy access and security. But now i'm thinking on going with a DVD setup if i keep my car. The JVC DVD player fits under the the stock radio location elimating the coin/cup holder.

Greatest thing is i'm a JVC dealer.

I have 2 TV's and a playsstation 1 soon to be upgraded to PS2(on layaway) also have a vcr in my 93 SHO. I have pics on RI SHO website. If you have any questions I think that I am the man to ask. Cause if it is electronic like audio and visual for a car then I probaly have it or thought of it or seen it somewhere here in Orlando, FL.

I gave you that link for SHOFF's tv's. Personally I like the idea of a flatscreen in the sunvisor when you fold it down, then maybe a DVD in the glove box...

yhardy- Ok I have a couple questions for you and whoever else could answer...

1. Where did you put your Playstation? The glove box didn't look deep enough at first glance.

2. Where are your monitors placed? What kind are they, how much, etc?

3. Where would be the best place to put a single 5.5 inch screen in a 93 SHO with playstation?

4. What other equipment do i need? What if my CD deck doesn't have inputs???

Ok i know its a lot, but i really appreciate all of you guys helpin me out. I wanna get this to work!! Thanks!!

"1. Where did you put your Playstation? The glove box didn't look deep enough at first glance."

- There is definatly not enough room to mount a playstation in the glove box....unless maybe u mounted it upside down at the top when you open u'r glove box and then you would have a great place to put u'r controllers while not in use. But this would all depend on the clearance of the back part of the glove box

"4. What other equipment do i need? What if my CD deck doesn't have inputs??? "

- If your cd player doesn't have inputs then you can get one of those devices (someone tell me what they are called) that takes a regular A/V signal (like from a CD player) and converts it to an FM radio station. Some aftermarket CD changers come with these and they work very nice.

All I can help ya with. Hope this helps or gives you an idea on how do complete this project.

If you look at RI-SHO website under friends rides you can see where my tv's are placed and you can also see how I mounted and yes I said mounted the playstation 1 into the glovebox. So that answers 1 question.

I also mounted 1 TV right behind the sunroof and the other was mounted where the stock radio used to be. I moved that down to where the cig lighter used to be. Trust I know about stereo's. My SHO has came home with trophies 6 out of 7 shows that I have taken it too. and the stereo hits between 145-146 db's with 2 15's. And I hope to have more seeing that it comes out of the paintshop tommorrow.

TV's can be expensive depending where you buy them from stay away from BEST BUY and CIRCUIT CITY they have tremendous mark up.
