Funny. I swear I remember someone doing a front and rear mounted SHO engine project way back in the day.

Man, I'm off the forum for an hour and there's a ton of posts...I love it!

So, Raptor motor with adapter plate for trans, huh? I don't know about being that simple, but with enough money anything is possible. ****, you could just find a way to mount that motor longitudinal!

But the blocks do have some differences...mostly mounting bosses and a few other small details. I don't think the thermostat housing is in the same place along with that coolant line under the intake.

But, it's not out of the realm of possibility....if you just throw enough money at it.

This is why I support adopting all Raptor parts into a sho block

But even guys who build Raptors up, switch to aftermarket internal parts. While you have that block apart, you might as well go to JE Pistons, Callies connecting rods, ARP hardware, King XP bearings, etc. It's just the Raptor crank that is the gem (or as the ever-wise and sage-like Richard Rawlings says "the diamond in the goats ass"). Our motors make similar power as the OEM Raptor does with some tuning alone. But when you start adding power, even those Raptor parts get swapped out. So, unless you wanted a budget build, and didn't intend on going above, say, 500 or so whp, than I'd just as well upgrade to all that aftermarket stuff I mentioned, for cheap (relatively) insurance, if nothing else.

I see at least a dozen Raptors a day on my commute to work. I know they're badass trucks but I prefer the unique exclusiveness of our cars. Even with all the flaws and weak links within our platform I'd prefer a SHO even if someone offered to trade even up for a Raptor.
If i was rich I would call your bluff.

Alot of that is in the capabilities of the transmission and the larger turbos. Slap on the equivalent turbos and you can likely make similar power with just a tune.

Don't forget the larger fuel pump, the additional variable exhaust cam, the better heads, and Google the rest if you want full details.
