95 MTX, 58K miles, new Clutchmaster stage 1 @ ~54K, new plugs and wires and Valvecover and Plugwell gakets within last 1K, 80 mm Pro-M MAF, runs smooth. I have driven the car relatively conservatively with occasional pushes through the RPM range, no wheel spins or clutch drops.

I noticed a very slight (almost imperceptable) shudder when it starts rolling away in first but in reverse it shakes considerably more and when the wheels are in a fully turned position both front wheels ratchet considerably while engaging the clutch in reverse.

I'd like to hear what you guys think might be causing this.

Thanks,
Chris

Perhaps someone could recommend a few things I could look at, or check, or something. I need to diagnose this ASAP.

It has been suggested this is clutch chatter, resulting from ???? I guess not seating the clutch correctly. However I've got on the order of 3~4000 miles on it and now it's exhibiting these symptoms.

Is one brand or type of clutch more or less prone to this sort of thing?

What specifically occurs whan one does not seat the clutch properly, and what sort of activities might cause a clutch to not seat properly.

Can someone describe the proceedure (in detail) of seating a clutch in order to prevent this sort of occurance?

I would greatly appreciate any fresh experienced advice on this subject.

I did not perform this work I delegated the work to a trusted resource.

I have been assured (but no way to prove it) that the flywheel was resurfaced.

I have also been told the necessity of "bedding" a clutch went out some time ago with the advent of superior finishing technology associated with the two mating surfaces.

What say you gurus of the MTX? Anybody have problems with new clutches shuddering in so few miles, and if you did were you able to identify the root problem?

I'm hopeful I can pin down the problem first and foremost because I don't want to do harm to my low mile SHObaby. Subsequently I'll try to learn more so as to minimize this happening again. Any opinions, preferrably those with significant clutch knowledge, are appreciated.

It could be just simple clutch chatter. Does it only do it when you slip it? Mine will chatter like mad if I slip it FYI.

Was the rear main seal leaking? An oil soaked clutch can cause chatter, which would make sense, sense it took it a few thousand miles to start this. Unfortunately, the only way to tell is if you take it all back apart.
