Door locks on its own when closing door

I have been having a slow drain on my battery. After a couple weeks the battery is dead. It happened about the same time that my door ( I have a key less entry one) locks when I shut it. The car can be running with me in it or not running and I just got out of it but it will lock when I shut it. Maybe that's normal, but I've never had that happen.

Sounds like you have the auto lock enabled. Is your car atx or mtx? The atx models usually only lock when the sensor in the seat it activated and the door is closed.

The mtx cars lock the doors anytime the car is shifted into reverse and the seat sensor is activated once and the car is running. That means the car will lock itself back if you get out of it with it running.

Neither should do any of this if the car is off.

The only way that it would make the battery drain is if the auto lock keeps the power lock engaged. The usual place for a power drain on the mtx cars is a bad voltage regulator in the alternator. For some reason this gives no battery light warning but it’s par for the course. Have you had the alternator bench tested?

Its fun to take off the alternators on these cars. The damn AC lines are right in your way.

EDIT: do you know the code for the door key pad? If so then just unlock it there. PITA though having the damn car lock everytime you close the door though.
