Hey guys. Check out what Tom and I created using the latest Dooleyville technology;) .

100 0150

100 0159

100 0157

100 0151

First three pics are in neutral and the last is 2nd... Bing!

We took about two inches out of the straight part of the rod and then reversed the foreward bend and tilted it back a bit. It's much more comfortable feels a lot more solid.

Total cost: FreeNinetyFree:p

Yeah no kidding. I drove it after the modification and discovered one of the irrefutable truths of the Universe: I can't shift worth a damn. Even if I had a blown and turbo'd Cobra, Nick and Mike could still walk away from me. I swear, you can time my shifts with a calendar!

Tom, did you buy Bondurant's driving book (Bob Bondurant on High Performance Driving) by any chance? I have an old edition, but he has a nice description of a simple shifting technique that I've always used...makes for quick shifts as well as a reduced probability of missing a shift.

It's easy on the equipment, too...

Sure, that and the SCCA safety vid.

And I need to borrow your shock wrench (coilover adjuster) next weekend, as mine seems to have grown legs.

Sure thing. TOW's shocks are being rebuilt right now anyway.

I don't know that I'd agree with all that, I don't think I'd have wanted you to be any better when we rode in the other woman, That was plenty fast and scary enough. By the way, is my polished, painted(Black and Blue) and freshened engine ready yet? I'm lookin to come up to Dooleyville and do some paintin and tradin:rofl:
I can probably talk the "COOKIE LADY" back into the kitchen:dribble:

By the way, Anyone have a Clutch cable for a '90? My son ordered one off ebay and I think they sent him a throttle cable for a diesel pusher motorhome, as long as this thing is!

I might. If I get time today I'll go through the back room and see what I have.

That chopped shifter feels sooo much better than the stock one. I shifted it around for a little bit, and it doesn't have nearly as much slop as it did before. The throws are even a lot shorter and more direct. It's the first shifter I have actually been able to find 1-5 from the passanger seat on the first try lol.

Tom.. you should market these things... You could use that description I just gave as advertising. ;)

There's no reason that you couldn't do the same thing to a rod shifter.

FWIW, there's a difference between a "short-throw-shifter" and a shifter with a shortened lever. On one you move the fulcrum point further up, so that the connected part of the shift lever gets longer, and on the other you just whack off part of the top of the shift lever.

This is the second kind.

But that's certainly a do-able mod, and I think it's pretty cool how Nik's came out.
