I know there are a bunch of threads and this has been beaten to death but I’m a new 1994 Ford SHO owner and I have a couple of questions in regards to my jacked up clutch. Bought the car super cheap off a dude who said “he burnt the clutch”. I’m confused as to where I should start troubleshooting for this reason. I could rev super high and would shift through all gears and not move. I did the auto adjustment on the clutch cable (push up on the clutch pedal) and it popped but now I cannot get it to shift into any gear while running and if I pushed hard enough on the shifter it will start to creep forward. I can’t seem to find any info on how to manually adjust the cable to find out if this is the issue. Everybody on this forum just kinda says it’s auto adjusting and could be a number of things but I’m wondering if someone with knowledge could push me in the right direction. Also before I adjusted the clutch the transmission fork would move very little, and the clutch was very stiff. Once I did the auto adjust the fork moves more but maybe about an inch or so and the clutch pedal feels a lot looser. I’ve had manuals my whole life so I would like to think I know what a clutch pedal feels like in general. It feels like there’s not much tension now and there seems to be a lot of free play in the cable that I can feel before the clutch pedal starts pulling the cable. I’m prepared to do a clutch, but don’t want to do all this just to find out it’s something with my pedal/cable.
