I need info on job market/cost of living around the Ann Arbor area. I was born and raised in Pinckney so I'm familiar with the area, but it's been sometime since I was there, and I was never looking at places to rent or job opportunities & avg. pay. Suffice to say I'm sure the job market is way better than it is in Rapid.

Michelle and I are very seriously considering a move back to Mi. She'll take care of her degree at U of M (SDSMT hasn't been quite the impressive school she thought it was) and we both admit that making a living in Rapid is just abismal, neither one of us are happy here. This move (if it takes place) would be in early-mid August, and we'd rather NOT be right in the thick of Ann Arbor. Outskirts or middle of nowhere is just fine with us.

Help bring me back home guys

Which is nice, cause i dont think i'll be returning to western next semester, probably gonna take some classes at henry ford community college to get some credits under my belt for cheap, and then transfer to a nice school. I miss kalamazoo already, and I wouldnt be surprised if i found myself back there..being a bronco again.

And i dont know why i'm at 5am...my sleep schedule has gotten messed up lately..but since i'm up, i might as well enjoy the morning (i'm not usually awake for it..heh).

lol... i used to live in livonia- and thats hmmmm 30 mins from ann arbor.
from when i lived there- not much of jobs other than for the college kids who go to school there at U of M. you may have to drive 30 mins to find " good" work pending on what you do or what your good at.

But hey, if you feel like working at one of those Cafe's in Ann Arbor and hanging out w/ all the hott college girls then go for it j/p...

Well from my friends have told me about AA, keep in mind that these are college students, living in the thick of it, that the city is "money." I thought East Lansing rental rates were pretty high, but they're much higher down there, again keep in mind that these kids are living pretty close to campus, I'm sure that as you get further out it gets cheaper and much quieter.
I hope you guys do come back....I mean Car & Driver is based out of there

I would never live right in town. I'm actually looking at places like Whitmore Lake, Chelsea, South Lyon, Hamburg, Dexter,Pinckney...heck I'm originally from Pinckney. Nothing like going home again

Just got off the phone with Michelle... she's presently in Oregon on her field study. It's not going well; the course isn't what she expected. Furthermore, the prof who "abandoned" her this last semester gave her a 2.0, which effectively boots her from SDSMT. This after he said they'd "get it all worked out" but thus far he's brushed the topic off. She's ****** and upset and literally said "let's go to Ann Arbor."

I've since found out that U of M has the 4th best Paleo program in the country. That little nugget of info brightened her day, because she knew I wanted to go back to Mi, and there's a really good program for her there too.

So, unless something major prevents it, we'll be moving this August. I'm kinda torn... I've wanted to come back to Michigan pretty much since the first week after I left, but I didn't want to go back like this.
