Do I need to check my CAT's for damage

After reading here and deciphering my dancing temp gauge I figured I needed a thermostat. WELL, this is what I found...



The car would hardly reach OT, and would go down in temp on the highway. I've kinda been driving it like I stole it so I'm worried I may have sucked some planet saving sh&% powder back in to my machine!
