I don't like ABS, ...never did...The lines at the top of the splitter coming from the abs motor are toast and weeping now that I have jostled things a bit. I hate ABS, I never wanted ABS. I have the fuse pulled out of the ABS on my Blazer...The SHO master Cylinder has a front and a back. Can I just take the line from the front of the Master cylinder and junction it for the two front wheels and take the line from the back of the master cylinder and junction it for the two lines going to the back wheels...???
Please let me hear the experts opinions as soon as you can. The rear brake hose is supposed to be in tomorrow and then I'll be finished with everything in back..Proportioning, lines to both wheels, hoses and calipers, The rotors cleaned up fine and are within spec.
I was all ready to connect the unions to the from cause I didn't want to mess with things up front since the wheels looked fine...but no...the lines coming from the ABS...I hate ABS...am I repeating myself...I wanna just take it out of the system.
Can I do that...
....sore hands.

My initial thought I never modify the hydraulics of the braking system. I know folks have been known to put on proportioning valves in the rear, but serious modification of the brakes seems like a no-no.

Thanks for the reply Devin...I just wondered mostly cause I remember the older cars...there was a master cylinder and brake lines and they stopped, I understand.. I'm pretty sure.. what the ABS saves you from with the slamming on brakes instead of running over the dog who ran in the street, but I just can't help wondering if the system would just work the old way, master cylinder to brake hoses...but honestly, I also try my best to put everything back the way it was...to the point of four screws on the license plate sometimes...
Thx again,
T

no, I would not do that.

the proportioning valve on the rear is not the only proportioning you need front/rear - that one just adjusts for varying weights in the trunk as it is adjusted by ride height. somewhere in the abs system there is a main proportioning valve.

if you really want to remove the abs, then get the non-abs stuff for a standard Taurus from the jy or wherever and install that. iirc, that is different master cylinder, distribution block/proportioning valve, and lines.

See...I knew you would have a definitive answer,
I decided to bit the bullet and buy a set of the stainless lines from SHO nut, I can use the ones I still need (ABS) and then have the others for the next time..
See you in less than a month...THanks again for the pictures...there's a lot of stuff there..a blue..front bumper too??. I'd love to get that all in the truck..I'm bringing my daughter with me to maybe help drive but mostly for the company, So we'll have the room behind the front seats..its a super crew cab XLT and the bed..I'll bring bungees and lots of rope and if weather is threatening for those two days...maybe a couple plastic tarps too..

I got finished today also with the rr brakes

IMG 6888 zpsez7x1ozw

So no just wait for the lines from sho nut and hook things back up to the ABS motor..
Question for you guys??

If the ABS motor is for crap...like non functional...will fluid still go through it just pass through with no ABS function?? I guess that's kind of a dumb question because I took out the fuse from the ABS in my blazer cause it started getting really wonky at the end of the winter and the brakes still got all the fluid they needed, just have to look at the ABS light on the dash...

So...anyway, ABS lines. I cleaned up the front distribution block and the line from the bottom of the block going over to the right front wheel was in fine shape at both ends, so I'll re-use that for now..

And,.,yes again, the car isn't worth fixing up, but I'll drive it as my SHO beater and if it dies or something, I'll take off all the good parts I put on before it goes to the jy...oh yes...and the interior that I promised myself I was going to part out to pay for the car in the first place...
we'll see

Share your dislike of the GenII abs. Always seemed over active, lil gravel, wet leaves, etc etc. I almost got broad sided one time because my abs kicked in coming to a stop sign while hitting left over anti skid (my Boro uses a fine gravel not salt).

I just took out the abs sensors that read the rings on the axles iirc. And also removed the ABS bulb when I put white face gauges in. But what a mess up front with hard lines and the abs unit ughhh.
