Sorry, no I didn't get it. I can get it if you need it. The yard I saw it at wants 79.99 for it. Let me know if you would like for me to get it.

hmm, my mother had an '89 taurus lx with the digital dash, what an odd beast that '89. (oh the stories! :bonk: ) All i remember about it was that no matter how horrible the car ran (when it did), the little system monitor screen on the far left side of the dash always said "normal". :thumb:

I had an '88 Sable that had the same cluster as the '89. It was not nearly as nice and the '90-'95 cluster IMO. The speed and RPM readout was an LCD rather than a VFD and the fuel and temp gauges were analog rather than digital.

Digital Dash Install Question

I just bought a digital insturment cluster, and I am trying the instructions from the site made by Jelloslug. I am coming into some trouble. Am I to understand that not only are you supposed to get Dash, but you are supposed to get the cables too? Also what happens to the cable that connects to the guage that runs the spedo. I dont want to go any farther. I fear I am about to screw something up.

Is there anyone in the Houston area that can do the digital dash install for me? This is a bit beyond my capabilities.

RE: Digital Dash Install

My car is a 93 ATX. I am about to undertake the digital dash conversion. I am going to have someone do it for me. Do I need to have the connectors from the the car that the digital dash came out of? Or will My current connectors work? Also, I bought two digital spedos, so after this install, I will have an extra one. So if anyone needs one let me know. What is supposed to be done with the P R N D 1 2 that is under the spedo. Since it will not be needed.

Thanks,

Since you own an ATX as of right now you are out of luck with the fuel computer functions in a digital dash. In order to use the fuel computer you need an output from your PCM that is named DOL (Data Output Link) It is present on pin 34 of EVERY PCM on a Taurus except the ATX SHO. The ATX used pin 34 for Intake Manifold Runner Control. I have not had an ATX to play with to see if the DATA+ and DATA- signals (which ARE present in every ATX taurus ever made) will provide the needed information to make the fuel computer work. I have two digital dash clusters. One had the DATA+/- lines and the other didn't, so I don't know for certain if they can take the place of the DOL signal.

Question about Digital Dash Install

Help! I have a big question. I know Jelloslug is in the fore front when it comes to the digital dash install. This question is for anyone with a Gen II SHO that did the install. How did you install the tach switches on your car? How does it look. Can anyone provide me some pics of this? Also, which wire is the EEC on the Gen II SHO?

Ok, I've added to this post. I am well into the wire transformation, and remarkably, the diagram I got from Jelloslug's website matches. I am coming across some roadblocks I would like to get help with before I press on.

The Digital Cluster connector A has seatbelt on the 9 position. The analog cluster does not have a seat belt connector. Where does this get spliced to?

Also, It is not explained where do I find all of the EEC Pin connectors so I can connect some of the other wires?

I know this thread is two years old, but I thought it better than making a new thread.

Anyway, what pins would I use to power up the dash to see if it functions? From what I am reading could I apply 12VDC POS to the 7 wire and the NEG to wire 2 on the big (20 pin ((C256) connector?

Um yeah I would top that out really quick! I could'nt even activate the time circuits becuse that requires 88mph to trigger the 1.1 gigawatt Flux capacitor. Lol! Soo do you think you could make a 92+ digital dash work in my 89'?

Yea, that would not be a problem. We might have to duct tape in the dash but it will work. On a side note: I would love to see someone put the 86-88 door panels in an '89. They match the '89 dash so much better....

86-88 door panel pix please? You know i'm open to these experiments. Did they have the gray interior panels back in those years?

Here are the best pics I can find right now. They have the manual window cranks but if you look at the large 86 digital cluster pic you can see where the power window, power door lock, and door speaker grills go.

Btw, What center console would match well with that dashboard? The 93-95 gray one won't join propperly due to the lower missing radio section. Or will it?

If you want to use a 93-95 console you could get one from a '94 Lincoln Continental. They have a filler plate where it should meet the dash.
