I'd love to get this done at some point. But I'll take my time and be patient about finding a cluster. Props to you and the others getting this done.

Look for one out of a 2nd gen Sable. It will have the correct illumination color. As far as I know you will only find the correct dash bezel in a flex fuel 2nd gen Taurus.

I actually keep seeing that term, what is a flex fuel 2nd gen taurus? Was there any special badging? Is it a trim level between the regular base model and the sho?

That was an engine option. It will have a little FFV emblem on it, usually on the trunk lid. They are usually GLs but I assume that you could get it in the LX trim also. I have never personally seen one, only pics. You don't want the cluster from one of those though, it's different than the normal Taurus/Sable clusters and the fuel computer won't work properly.

Not that I don't have the time and patience to track down a rare part like that but if my dash is already showing the cracking damage that our cars are known for, then wouldn't it be a plausible solution to just swap in a sable dash into a 2nd gen? My biggest issue is that black dashes are only in the 92 and 93 models, correct? I've already been struggling with the idea of what to do with my interior cause I've got a cracked dash and a chunk missing out of armrest on the front driver's side door panel. I'm not opposed to dying a dash. I would do it properly. But I see myself sourcing a mint sable dash way easier than a 2nd gen black sho dash. But I'm always open to suggestions.

Just dye it. The dash that is currently in my car was mocha before I dyed it. SEM vinyl dye works VERY well for the plastic and vinyl parts in our cars and is available locally. Plus, a Sable dash would be "different".

I know. If I'm going to do it, might as well do it right and not half-ass it. I'm just gonna bide my time then.

I seen ever only 1 black taurus dash with black cloth seats, and 1 black sable dash with black leather seats. jacked the leather seats, in the car now. drive side cracking though

Now if I can find black leather rear seats in a wagon, I'd be doing great!

Funny you guys posted this up. I just found all my digital dash parts that I was gonna put in my '92 years ago while I was packing up my garage this past weekend. That would have looked killer in my black car if I still had it.
