I visually compared my new Motorcraft SP497's (aka AGSP32FM - the new finewire replacements for the old double platinums) to my old Autolite APP3924's, and the Motorcrafts appeared to be very slightly shorter. Since switching to the Motorcrafts, I have not had any problems with water getting into the plug wells, whereas I would have problems almost every time it rained with the Autolites in there.

I'll have to remember to measure a plug with my calipers the next time I have one out.

Meh, perhaps I should throw in the fact that I've never measured them personally, nor have I had any issues with the 32PP's, 32FM's, Autolites or Densos sealing with plug wires.

Also, that SHOTimes information is ancient. Perhaps the FM's are the same length as the PP's. (yes, I said length, and PP)

You're doing it wrong.

maybe u got the plug wires routed wrong, I think their is a sticky here of cylinder #'s and the coil position they goto

I run Denso's this last time, look nice..... I think rockauto.com is best if your planning to do something and you want a particular brand, no searching around to see what store will order the parts for you, just a couple of clicks and its on the way......

Keep them for my next car and change my coil pack. Could that be the culprit?

I'd do a KOER, along with the cylinder balance test.

I'm confused about the plug change too. Was it misfiring before, or did the misfire start after you changed plugs?

Cuz I had a misfire and people said bosch +4's don't work well. The problem only happened after it warmed up. Someone thought maybe gps sensor. Will a code show up without a cel? I cleaned the maf

SP497 is the stock number for the 32FM plug, so yes. Once you take the plugs out, you'll see the FM number on them.

Hmm. Could be a few things, what shape are the plug wires in? Plug well seals good, no oil on the plug wires?

I'm not a fan of throwing parts at it 'til it's fixed, gets real expensive that way. Yes, codes will show up even without the CEL on. The computer will store them.

plugs

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I didn't think the SP497 was the same as 32FM. I was searching old threads so I could order new plugs tonight and saw this comment below. Anyone else can confirm???? I'm planning on ordering Denso PK16PR-L11. You can still get those at most parts stores like Advanced.
